This past week or so, I’ve been drooling over many of the clothes coming down the runways, but there are few shows that I really look forward to (if any) more than Marchesa. They are masters at creating fanciful, luxurious and detailed gowns. As with every season, I’m completely awed by their collection and curious to see what will end up on the red carpet!
Fashion Week is winding down, but I couldn’t let the week go by without posting something after hearing all the reports from friends attending the shows. The photos below are from J. Mendel’s show. I love that he mixed the frothy detailed gowns that he’s known for, with some structured pieces – all with impeccable construction, of course.
I saw this photo of all these jewels piled into a vintage tea cup and thought it was such an unexpected way to store jewelry. With all the gems and chains peeking out from the cup, it looks messy in the most glamorous way.
An online fashion magazine called Fashion156 recently came to my attention (via This is Glamorous). They change out their issues every 12 days, so the content is always fresh and exciting; plus, they have some really beautiful editorials.
My colleague Jamie told me about Steamline Luggage earlier this year, and I haven’t been able to get them off my mind. Their luggage is a beautiful mix of vintage and modern, with playful pops of color. I am particularly fond of the Editor Series….
My good friend Carolyn (of The Daily Obsession) tipped me off to these new and never-before-seen photographs of Jackie Kennedy that were recently released exclusively by LIFE.com. If you count Jackie O as one of your fashion icons, you’ll really enjoy these and will be reminded why her elegant style is still relevant today.
Designer Laura Su of Prismera Design is always thinking about different ways women can wear her jewelry, so it naturally made sense to extend the pieces to hair accessories. Currently, there’s a lovely collection of headbands and hair pins, which Laura has named “Adorn.” You can check out all the pieces out here, which just launched this week.
Last week on Oh Joy!, I saw this fabulous coloring book called My Wonderful World of Fashion by Nina Chakrabarti. It contains beautiful illustrations of fashion and accessories that can be brought to life by filling in color. I would have loved to have this coloring book as a child!
I’m so lucky to have so many talented friends, and Peggy Wong is one of them! Peggy has a design studio called Studio PW, as well as a lovely stationery line called bluepoolroad. She’s a former Martha Stewart art director, so you know she has an amazing and impeccable eye. I finally flipped through the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar and immediately was enamored with this whimsical editorial with various fashion designers and Sesame Street characters. Totally genius!
