With the fast-paced nature of PR, it’s essential to have all the necessary PR tools in place prior to any media outreach. But as an up-and-coming brand, budgets can be tight, and it can be difficult to determine where you’ll get the most bang for your buck. Below we help define a few items that you should spend and save on:
As publicists, we often hear from brands that one of their goals is to work with a brand or retailer with an established or complementary presence. These collaborations can be beneficial for both brands. For a boutique brand, collaborating with another company can offer credibility, as well exposure to a new and/or wider audience. Brands with an established presence and customer base, collaborate with emerging designers or boutique brands to offer their customers items that are unique and artisanal, yet complement their own product line.
When considering a collaboration, keep the following in mind:
What is a gifting suite? It is an event where brands pay a fee to offer products to celebrities in exchange for photos of the celebrity with the product. This can help to build brand recognition and a celebrity fan-base for the brands that participate. But for boutique brands with small gifting budgets, the cost to participate in these opportunities can far outweigh the benefits. Here are a few things to consider:
As a newer social media vehicle, Tumblr offers yet another avenue that businesses can utilize to explore and expand the reach of their brand. With an active community of users with easy re-blogging tools, it can make for an instantly viral method to share ideas from your company. What are some benefits?
Many of our clients are small businesses, and we’re proud of that! But with all entrepreneurial endeavors, every day poses new decisions – both right and wrong. Goop recently shared tips and words of wisdom from successful internet-based businesses, that are worth a second look.
Have you seen J.Crew‘s mini-documentary about how their shoes are made in Italy? Not only does it give you a deeper appreciation of how their footwear is designed and produced, but is also great marketing as it compels the consumer to invest more deeply into the brand. Check it out here.
Oftentimes, brands underestimate how much phenomenal photography can help the overall branding and look of their products. A photographer, who understands how to style/shoot products and make them look great as a still life, will help elevate the product – ultimately, making a difference to the overall perception of your brand.
Lately, I’ve been scrolling through photographer Nicole Hill Gerulat‘s work, and am so impressed by her still life shots. Nicole has the talent of making products look incredible, nailed. Below are some examples of Nicole’s work, but check out her site for more.
A few months ago, I watched the most interesting branding video by Simon Sinek. He talks about how great leaders inspire action and how the best ideas do not always equate to success within a company. He explains that today’s consumer makes purchasing and loyalty decisions based on “why” a company is in business, as opposed to “what” their business is.
We at Moderne Press instantly felt a connection to this philosophy because it is the way WE do business, as well. We are passionate about PR and the brands we represent. We also feel lucky to have the opportunity to work with brands that feel this same passion for what they do. We hope you are as inspired by this video as we were…enjoy. (Please note: it’s a bit long, about 20 minutes, but totally worth your time.)
At Moderne Press, we love working with small boutique brands – and there’s a reason for it. We know that our PR efforts have a more significant impact on your company. But why is PR important and why should you invest in it?
